  3. August 13th, 6:00PM at the Larkspur Library: Pre-recorded TED Talk Screening of "The Genius Behind Some of the World's Most Famous Buildings" by Renzo Piano and "The Art of First Impressions" by Chip Kidd

    August 13, 2018, 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM

Now screening pre-recorded TED Talks at the Larkspur library! Grab a seat and learn something new. Legendary architect Renzo Piano -- the mind behind such indelible buildings as The Shard in London, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the new Whitney Museum of Art in New York City -- takes us on a stunning tour through his life's work. With the aid of gorgeous imagery, Piano makes an eloquent case for architecture as the answer to our dreams, aspirations and desire for beauty. Book designer Chip Kidd knows all too well how often we judge things by first appearances. In this hilarious, fast-paced talk, he explains the two techniques designers use to communicate instantly — clarity and mystery — and when, why and how they work. He celebrates beautiful, useful pieces of design, skewers less successful work, and shares the thinking behind some of his own iconic book covers.
